Young Carers Service Criteria
To be eligible for referral to Stirling Carers Centre, a young person must:
Be located within the Stirling Council area.
Be aged between 7 and 17.
Agree to be involved with the service.
Be impacted physically, emotionally and/or academically by their caring role.
Have a significant role in looking after someone else who is experiencing an illness or disability.
Daily household management including laundry, cleaning, cooking, taking responsibility for food shopping etc.
Financial and practical management such as helping with financial matters, paying bills and using other methods of communication e.g. Makaton
On-going personal care for the person they care for including helping someone get washed and dressed, collecting and giving medication to the cared for and taking care of the cared for during the night.
Providing regular emotional support including supporting the person they care for when they are upset and/or worried, keeping the person they care for company on an on-going basis and accompanying the person when they have to go out.
The support offered by Stirling Young Carers is a time limited service. An approximate timescale will be identified with each individual young carer at the beginning of their journey of support.
If it becomes apparent that there are issues out with their caring role that require additional support, a referral to another agency may be more appropriate.
